Answers to Common Questions About Our 3D Printing, 3D Scanning & Design Services

I want to have some parts 3D printed, how do I get started?

In order to get something 3D printed from Wellstronics3D, you can simply send us your file and the approximate dimensions. Acceptable file formats are .STL, .STP, .IGS, .SLDPRT, .X_T, .OBJ.

Can you create technical drawings for a provisional patent application?

Yes. Since we specialize in CAD and 3D modeling, creating 2D black and white drawings for patent drawings is a very natural process for us at Wellstronics3D. We will make sure the drawings match the technical writing so the provisional patent is clear, concise and demonstrates the uniqueness of your idea.

How do I get started with a Product Development Project that I want to take from concept to Manufacturing?

We will send you a project contract listing the project details, images and terms. This contract must be reviewed, signed and dated before any product development work can start.

What is the minimum order size or production volume required?

A single part. We can supply you with a single part, a single prototype or thousands of parts.

What is the accuracy tolerance of your metrology-grade 3D scanning?

Our 3D scanners can generally hold volumetric tolerances of up to 0.02 mm + 0.033 mm/m.

Can you turn a broken or obsolete legacy component into a manufacturable 3D CAD model?

Yes. We can reverse engineer an obsolete part by 3D scanning it and then using that scan data as a 3D template to rebuild the CAD model. We can provide file formats in .STP, .SLDPRT, .SLDASM and more.

Where is Wellstronics3D located, and do you offer local pickup?

We are located in Inver Grove Heights, MN. We do offer local pickup by appointment.

What industrial 3D printing technologies do you utilize?

We use professional FDM/FFF, SLA and SLS 3D printers.
